Luigi’s Poker is a fun poker game featured in the Mario franchise, involving Mario’s friendly brother Luigi. The basic rules and gameplay of Luigi’s Poker are outlined below:
The Deck and Cards
Luigi’s Poker uses a standard 52 card deck with Jack, Queen, King, Ace, 2-10 in the four suits of Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades. Jokers are not used.
Goal of the Game
The goal is to make the best 5 card poker hand, using the community cards on the table and your 2 hole cards. The hands, from lowest to highest, are as follows:
- High Card
- One Pair
- Two Pairs
- Three of a Kind
- Straight
- Flush
- Full House
- Four of a Kind
- Straight Flush
The Deal
Luigi deals 2 hole cards face down to each player. Then he deals 3 community cards face up. This is called “the flop”. After the flop, Luigi deals a fourth community card (the “turn”) and finally a fifth community card (the “river”).
Betting Rounds
There are 4 betting rounds – before the flop, after the flop, after the turn, and after the river. Players can check, call, raise or fold during each betting round.
The Showdown
Once all betting is done, players reveal their hole cards and the best 5 card poker hand wins the pot. In case of a tie, the pot is split.
The key to winning at Luigi’s Poker is making strategic bets based on your hand strength at each stage of the game.
