The voice actor of Alan Wake has hinted the Alan Wake 2 release date

The voice actor of Alan Wake, Matthew Porretta, has hinted that Alan Wake 2 release date will be in October 2023 as a survival horror game that continues the story of the original game and connects to Remedy’s other games.

Alan Wake fans may have a reason to celebrate this Halloween, as the voice actor behind the titular character has seemingly revealed the release date for the highly anticipated sequel. Matthew Porretta, who has voiced Alan Wake since the original game in 2010, said in a recent podcast interview that Alan Wake 2 is “supposed to come out in October” this year.

Porretta was a guest on Monsters, Madness, and Magic, a podcast that covers horror and fantasy media. He was asked about his involvement in Alan Wake 2, which was officially announced at The Game Awards 2021. Porretta confirmed that he has been working on the game and that he was just in Finland last week, where the developer Remedy Entertainment is based.

“I’ve been working and will be working more on Alan Wake 2, I think it’s supposed to be coming out in October but I don’t know the exact time of that,” Porretta said around the 26th to 27th minute mark of the podcast episode. He also praised Remedy as “amazing people” and said that he has been playing the part of Alan Wake for 13 years since he auditioned for it.

While this is not an official confirmation from Remedy or the publisher Warner Bros. Games, it does align with the previously announced 2023 release window for Alan Wake 2. It also makes sense for a horror-themed game to launch around Halloween, especially since the original Alan Wake was heavily inspired by Stephen King and Twin Peaks.

Alan Wake 2 is set to be Remedy’s “first survival horror game”, according to the creative director Sam Lake. The game will continue the story of Alan Wake, a best-selling author who finds himself trapped in a dark and twisted version of reality. The game will feature a new combat system, new game modes, and new ways to experience the story.

Alan Wake 2 will also be the first game in Remedy’s Connected Universe, which links together its previous games such as Control and Quantum Break. Lake has said that Alan Wake 2 will have “many connections” to Control and that fans can expect “more surprises” in the future.

Alan Wake 2 will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game will also support ray tracing and other next-gen features to make it “the most beautiful Remedy game ever”, according to Lake.

Fans who want to catch up on Alan Wake’s story can play the remastered version of the original game, which was released in 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The remaster includes improved graphics, gameplay enhancements, and both DLC expansions – The Signal and The Writer.

Alan Wake is widely regarded as one of Remedy’s best games and a cult classic among horror fans. The game received critical acclaim for its atmospheric storytelling, immersive gameplay, and memorable soundtrack. The game sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide and spawned a spin-off title called Alan Wake’s American Nightmare in 2012.

With Alan Wake 2 release date on the horizon, fans can look forward to returning to the dark and mysterious world of Bright Falls and uncovering more secrets behind Alan Wake’s fate. As Porretta said in the podcast interview, “It’s going to be awesome.”
