Destiny 2 fans are in for a treat as the game’s latest season, Season of the Deep, brings some new cosmetics inspired by some of PlayStation’s biggest exclusives. The new season launches on May 23, 2023, and will feature armor sets for all three Guardian classes based on characters from God of War, Horizon, and Ghost of Tsushima. There will also be a Ghost shell that resembles the infected creatures from The Last of Us.
Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, revealed the new skins on its official Twitter account, along with a teaser image that shows the three Guardians wearing their PlayStation-themed gear. The Titan armor set is modeled after Kratos, the protagonist of God of War, with his signature red markings and fur cape. The Hunter armor set is influenced by Aloy, the heroine of Horizon, with her tribal outfit and bow. The Warlock armor set is designed after Jin Sakai, the samurai warrior from Ghost of Tsushima, with his elegant robes and sword.
The Ghost shell is perhaps the most surprising addition, as it transforms the friendly companion into a horrifying fungus-like creature that resembles the cordyceps-infected enemies from The Last of Us. The shell even has glowing eyes and spores that emit from its body.

These skins are likely to be ornaments that can be purchased from the Eververse store, Destiny 2’s in-game shop that sells cosmetic items for real money or Bright Dust, an earnable currency. It is unclear if these skins will be exclusive to PlayStation players or available on all platforms. Previous crossover skins, such as those based on Fortnite, Assassin’s Creed, and Halo, were accessible to everyone regardless of their platform.
This crossover is not surprising given that Sony acquired Bungie in January 2022 for $3.6 billion. However, the deal did not affect Destiny 2’s multiplatform status or introduce any further PlayStation-exclusive content. Bungie has maintained its creative independence and vision for Destiny 2, while benefiting from Sony’s resources and support.
Season of the Deep is the 21st season of Destiny 2 and will bring a lot of new content and changes to the game. The season will focus on exploring the depths of Europa, one of the game’s locations, and uncovering secrets about the Darkness, one of the game’s main antagonists. The season will also introduce a new six-player activity called Abyssal Extraction, a new exotic weapon called Graviton Lance, and a new seasonal artifact called The Deep Stone Crypt.
Destiny 2 is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Stadia. Season of the Deep will start on May 23, 2023 at 10 AM PDT and will last for three months.
You can get the PlayStation-themed skins by purchasing them from the Eververse store, which is Destiny 2’s in-game shop that sells cosmetic items. You can use real money or Bright Dust, an earnable currency, to buy the skins.
It is unclear if the PlayStation-themed skins are exclusive to PlayStation players or available on all platforms. Previous crossover skins, such as those based on Fortnite, Assassin’s Creed, and Halo, were accessible to everyone regardless of their platform. Bungie has not confirmed or denied the exclusivity of the PlayStation-themed skins yet.
