Who is Vanessa in FNAF Security Breach? Is Vanny Vennessa? Is She An Animatronic?

The game makes some significant changes from the previous one, but the core premise of the game remains the same. The narrative has some interesting elements, and fans are quite curious to know more about Vanny and Vanessa in FNAF. Here is all you need to know about it.

Who is Vanessa in FNAF Security Breach?

While playing the game many players are confused about one of the characters, which is none other than Vanny. Firstly, there is some confusion regarding whether Vanny and Vanessa are different people or one. Well, the answer to that is yes, they are indeed different people in the game.

Vanessa plays the role of a security guard in Five Night at Freddy’s Security Breach. She is portrayed as quite a helpful character in the game and helps Gregory throughout the course of the game. Vanessa is one of the most loved characters in the game, considering how generous she is, as she shows her care for other animatronics as well, which is quite good to see.

Is Vanny Vennessa? Is She An Animatronic?

Well, the short answer is no, Vanny and Vanessa are not the same people While Vanessa is a good character in the game, Vanny is the main antagonist of FNAF Security Breach. She has a white bunny costume, which gives her quite a scary appearance.

There are a few theories that suggest both of them are the same character, but they are debunked with the presence of posters including both those characters. As far as her relationship with animatronics is concerned, it should be noted that Vanny is not animatronic in FNAF. She is a human character, who is wearing a costume.

FNAF: Security Breach’s Emails & Audio Files Have Dark Implications

Unlike previous Five Nights At Freddy’s games, players can search for collectibles and additional lore hidden throughout the map. Plushies, audiotapes, and emails are all available throughout the map, and some include some convincing evidence for Vanessa being Vanny. For example, several emails highlight Vanessa’s interest in bunnies, as she requests a rabbit-themed cake for her birthday. Additionally, orders placed from Vanessa’s computer suggest she’s buying fur for a fursuit.

Players that access FNAF: Security Breach’s security doors can collect Vanessa’s therapy sessions throughout the Pizzaplex and further prove that Vanny and Vanessa are the same person. According to various specialists, Vanessa has anxiety, depression, and trauma that she compartmentalized, which may leave her vulnerable to manipulation. Her vulnerability’s prognosis is especially worrying, as collectibles reveal Vanessa might be an Afton.

Several emails and messages signed by Vanessa feature the letter ‘A’ as the first initial of her last name, which holds extreme significance in the FNAF community. If Vanessa is an Afton, that would determine that the night guard is related to William Afton, FNAF’s primary antagonist and the current resident of the Springtrap suit. Though William Afton appeared to die in the not-so-scary FNAF Pizzeria Simulator game, a remnant of him survived as Glitchtrap and corrupted FNAF’s VR: Help Wanted game.

Vanessa Was FNAF VR: Help Wanted’s Doomed Protagonist

Unbeknownst to some, Vanessa was the player character of Five Nights At Freddy’s VR: Help Wanted, where players explored first-person horror levels with each animatronic. While the episodes seemed disjointed at first, a specter of a rabbit known as Glitchtrap began to appear in the background. As players progressed, Glitchtrap obtained more influence over the VR world and the player character, resulting in corruption similar to Vanny’s. If Vanessa is genuinely an Afton, it makes sense that the remnants of her father would seek out a familial connection to carry out his plans, especially someone involved with the Fazbear Entertainment company.

Glitchtrap’s corruption over Vanessa also supports the theory that the security guard isn’t aware of her actions as FNAF: Security Breach’s Vanny character persona, given her concern over Gregory when hunting him throughout the game. Instead of immediately killing Gregory, Vanessa deposits him in the Lost and Found area and calls the police to help find his parents or come up with another solution. If Vanessa took after her father in this universe and is responsible for the disappearances in the Pizzaplex, why wouldn’t she have killed Gregory immediately and disposed of his body? If Vanessa and Vanny are the same person, it’s likely the former isn’t aware of her actions and has succumbed to Glitchtrap’s manipulation.

FNAF: Security Breach’s Data Files Support Vanny/Vanessa Theory

Though in-game evidence provides the most substantial proof, further proof of Vanny and Vanessa’s shared identity lies within the game files. As Gregory battles the animatronics, each band member receives a ‘shattered’ variant to alter their appearance and abilities after their boss fights. This results in appearances like an aggressive, eyeless Roxy who weeps instead of taunts. FNAF Security Breach’s Roxy, Monty, and Chica have shattered variants that dictate their appearances, but Vanessa also has a shattered variant. According to a post on the FNAF subreddit by user GBAura-Recharged, Vanessa’s shattered variant is listed as Vanny. Given that Vanessa and Vanny never appear simultaneously (except in the non-canon ending), it’s possible both characters are the same.

Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach scrapped many voice lines and mechanics, likely affecting the game’s overall quality. However, players can access some of these features with Debug Mode, including a Vanny Meter that fills as time passes. If Vanessa is still roaming the Pizzaplex when the game’s unused Vanny Meter is turned on, players can see her character model turn into Vanny when the meter fills. This mechanic could likely have served as a way to introduce more time constraints on players or as a way to keep track of Vanny, but it confirms that during FNAF: Security Breach’s development, these two characters likely shared an identity.

Whether Vanny is Vanessa is likely never to be confirmed, as the Five Nights At Freddy’s has a habit of leaving many questions unanswered. Thankfully, there appears to be an overwhelming amount of in-game and game file evidence to suggest that Vanny and Vanessa are the same person. How their mental break came to be and whether Vanessa has control over her actions is unknown, but if the FNAF franchise continues, Scott Cawthon may develop the subject in the future. Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach is available now for PlayStation and PC.
