Sabrina Carpenter Takes Over the 2026 Met Gala: Secret Wardrobe Changes and a Surprise Performance

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter undeniably owned the 2026 Met Gala. From walking the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art steps in a cinematic masterpiece to delivering a show-stopping musical performance inside, the singer and 2026 Host Committee member made it a night to remember.

A Cinematic Red Carpet and a Secret Wardrobe Swap

Celebrating this year’s “Costume Art” exhibition and “Fashion Is Art” dress code, Carpenter initially turned heads on the red carpet in a custom Christian Dior halter gown designed by Jonathan Anderson. The dress was sculpted entirely from authentic, vintage camera film from Audrey Hepburn’s classic 1954 movie, Sabrina.

However, the Dior gown was only the beginning. According to Marie Claire, the 2026 Met Gala was full of exclusive, behind-closed-doors fashion moments. Once inside the museum, Carpenter joined the likes of Beyoncé in executing a top-secret outfit change. Trading her delicate film-strip train for something ready for the dance floor, Carpenter slipped into a stunning Versace ensemble for the rest of the evening’s festivities.

Bringing Down the House in the Egyptian Wing

Carpenter didn’t just bring her fashion A-game—she also provided the evening’s entertainment. The Hollywood Reporter detailed from inside the gala that Carpenter took the stage to kick off the night’s celebrations, surprising the A-list crowd with a lively performance of her hit songs “House Tour,” “Espresso,” and “Please, Please, Please.”

The surprises didn’t end there. Later in the evening, legendary Fleetwood Mac frontwoman Stevie Nicks took the stage in the Met’s iconic Egyptian wing as the event’s official headliner. Mid-set, Nicks brought Carpenter back out into the spotlight. The two generations of pop and rock royalty teamed up for unforgettable duet performances of “Landslide” and “Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow,” capping off one of the most glamorous and music-filled Met Galas in recent history.
