Ryan Reynolds Blocks Justin Baldoni Before Blake Lively’s Harassment Lawsuit

Ryan Reynolds Allegedly Blocks Baldoni on Social Media

In a surprising development, it has been revealed that Ryan Reynolds, the husband of actress Blake Lively, allegedly blocked director Justin Baldoni on Instagram months before Lively filed her harassment lawsuit against Baldoni. According to text exchanges obtained by Us Weekly, Baldoni, 40, discovered in May 2024 that Reynolds had blocked both him and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, on the social media platform. This occurred several months after filming wrapped on the movie It Ends With Us.

Baldoni Discusses Potential Plans in Texts

Text messages between Baldoni and publicist Jennifer Abel from May 2024 provide insight into the tense situation. In the texts, Baldoni expressed concerns over potential fallout from Lively’s claims and suggested that they needed a plan in case Lively went public with her allegations. “We should have a plan for IF she does the same when [the] movie comes out,” Baldoni wrote, referring to the potential repercussions of the legal battle. He further explained, “Just want you guys to have a plan. Plans make me feel more at ease.”

Blake Lively’s Lawsuit Against Baldoni

On December 20, 2024, Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment during the production of It Ends With Us. In her complaint, Lively alleges that Baldoni’s behavior on set caused her “severe emotional distress.” The lawsuit highlights an incident in January 2024, during which a meeting was convened to address Lively’s concerns about a “hostile work environment.” The meeting was attended by various members of the film’s cast and crew, including both Baldoni and Reynolds.

Lively’s Demands and Baldoni’s Alleged Behavior

According to Lively’s lawsuit, she demanded changes to the work environment during the meeting, including no more explicit content being shown to her, the cessation of discussions about Baldoni’s alleged “pornography addiction,” and no further conversations regarding the genitalia of cast and crew members. Lively also requested that there be no more inquiries about her weight or references to her deceased father.

Baldoni’s behavior during filming is a key issue in Lively’s claims, and her lawyer argues that these actions significantly impacted her mental health.

Baldoni’s Lawyer Denies the Allegations

In response to Lively’s accusations, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has vehemently denied the claims. Freedman called Lively’s allegations “completely false, outrageous and intentionally salacious.” He further accused Lively of filing the lawsuit to “fix her negative reputation” and to “rehash a narrative” regarding the film’s production. He also suggested that Lively had made multiple demands and threats during filming, including threatening not to show up to set or promote the film if her conditions were not met.

Lively’s Statement on the Lawsuit

In a public statement issued in December, Lively expressed her hopes that the legal action would help bring attention to what she describes as “sinister retaliatory tactics” used against individuals who speak out about misconduct. She added, “I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted.”

Lively also clarified that she was not responsible for spreading negative information about Baldoni, asserting that her focus was on addressing her own experiences on the film’s set.
