A Historic Partnership for Alberta iGaming
BetRivers, the online casino and sportsbook brand operated by Rush Street Interactive, and Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Ltd. are teaming up on a cross-promotional partnership six weeks into Alberta’s regulated iGaming market. Alberta’s move to a regulated iGaming market provides a significant boost to bettors in the province. Previously, the only regulated option was Play Alberta, owned and operated by Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC).
BetRivers entered the Alberta market on July 13, 2026. The launch marked the operator’s official debut in the province, giving Albertans access to another regulated sportsbook for betting on major sports and events. Eligible players, aged 18 and older, can sign up now at ab.betrivers.ca or through the app to experience exclusive titles, premium rewards and engaging experiences. Now, BetRivers and Gateway Casinos are launching cross-promotions connecting digital and land-based gaming experiences.
Gateway’s Edmonton Landmarks: Grand Villa and Starlight Casinos
Promotions will centre on Gateway’s Grand Villa Casino and Starlight Casino properties in Edmonton. The partnership pairs BetRivers’ digital platform with Gateway’s Edmonton properties – Grand Villa Casino in the ICE District, the dining, shopping, and entertainment center, and home to the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL), and Starlight Casino inside West Edmonton Mall – where events and promotions will take place.
According to the announcement, Gateway and BetRivers plan to use their partnership to create events and experiences this summer. It also noted there are plans for future events throughout the year. Events and promotions will kick off this summer, with more to be announced throughout the year designed to connect online and land-based gaming experiences and reach a broader range of customers, including brand ambassadors at Gateway properties.
Executive Insights: Rush Street and Gateway Leadership
Alberta is a market we’ve been preparing for, and our partnership with Gateway lets us welcome players in a way no one else can,” said Richard Schwartz, chief executive officer at Rush Street Interactive. “By pairing our best-in-class platform with two of Edmonton’s landmark entertainment destinations, we’re giving Albertans more ways to play, more reasons to visit, and more to look forward to as we grow in the province.
“Gateway has called Alberta home for more than two decades, with our Edmonton properties sitting at the centre of the city’s entertainment scene,” said Tolek Strukoff, chief executive officer of Gateway Casinos & Entertainment. “Now, through our partnership with BetRivers, that experience doesn’t stop at our doors.”
According to a BetRivers spokesperson, Gateway will expand gaming options for customers who can’t make it to a land-based casino or who prefer the convenience of playing online.
What This Means for Alberta Players: Bridging Digital and Land-Based Gameplay
Already available in Ontario and several U.S. markets, BetRivers is known for its extensive game library, intuitive platform, and smooth mobile experience. Combined with its established reputation in Ontario, BetRivers enters Alberta as one of the province’s leading regulated online casino operators. The BetRivers platform brings this focus on entertainment to life for Alberta players through a wide range of unique and fun gamified play experiences designed to engage and reward our players.
The iRush Rewards Program Integration
Upon signing up with BetRivers Casino Alberta, you will be open to joining the iRush Rewards Program. This is a loyalty program with no commitments needed on your end. BetRivers’ iRush Rewards program is the operator’s Alberta-specific offer for existing customers. Each qualifying real-money wager earns loyalty level points and bonus store points, with the latter available to redeem for free sports bets, bonus money, and odds boosts.
As you play your favorite casino games, you will generate three types of points: Loyalty Level Points — Used to determine your VIP tier; Bonus Store Points — Used in the bonus store to purchase rewards; and Tier Points – Determine your loyalty Tier (Gold, Platinum, or Black). That makes iRush more than a standard loyalty program, it gives bettors a route to earn betting-specific rewards. The reward options and point costs can change, so customers should review the bonus store before placing a wager or redeeming points.
Streamlined Platform Features and Diverse Casino Offerings
BetRivers focuses less on flashy presentation and more on functionality, making it a practical option for Alberta players looking for an accessible online casino platform. BetRivers won’t be able to say it has the largest or most unique online casino game library, but it does still feature a full selection of options. The casino offers a wide range of slots, table games, and live dealer titles, appealing to both new and experienced players.
Table Game Options: Blackjack variants, American and European Roulette, Baccarat, Craps, Three Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Video Poker titles. BetRivers Casino Alberta features a robust live dealer casino powered by leading live gaming providers. Players can enjoy real-time blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and poker-style games streamed in high definition across desktop and mobile devices. Also, because Alberta also offers legal and regulated online sports betting, BetRivers Alberta will allow you access to BetRivers Sportsbook Alberta on the same app.
Regulatory Landscape and Retail Sportsbook Clarifications
The partnership does not currently include BetRivers retail sportsbooks at either Gateway casino. It’s important to note that this isn’t a BetRivers retail sportsbook being opened at the two Gateway properties, at least for the time being, according to a BetRivers spokesperson.
Starlight Casino gives customers access to slot machines, table games, a high-limit lounge, and The Replay Arena, which includes a digital wall, lights, a live DJ, and “Dealertainers.” However, the property did not house a sportsbook. In Alberta, licensed private iGaming operators like FanDuel, Caesars, DraftKings, and BetRivers can open retail sportsbooks like the ones found in Las Vegas.
