Remember Molly O’Connell’s Shocking ANTM Haircut?
Southern Charm’s Molly O’Connell Recalls Her Devastating America’s Next Top Model Haircut
Southern Charm star Molly O’Connell recently opened up about a particularly low point in her life: her infamous haircut from America’s Next Top Model (ANTM).
O’Connell, a relative newcomer to the Bravo franchise, competed in Season 16 of ANTM in 2010. While she ultimately finished as the runner-up, the experience left a lasting (and not entirely positive) mark on her.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, O’Connell recounted the devastating moment. As part of a final challenge, both she and her competitor were forced to cut their hair into short pixie cuts.
“One thousand percent, I thought I was gonna win,” O’Connell confessed. “I was like, ‘Oh! I’m gonna get that $100k and I’m gonna buy myself extensions.'”
However, her dreams of victory were quickly dashed. “And then, 45 minutes after they cut my hair off, they were like, ‘OK, you go home. You lose.’ So I went home with a Leonardo DiCaprio circa Titanic bowl cut. It was fantastic, yes.”
Looking back, O’Connell acknowledged the experience, despite its hardships, likely shaped her career. “Even looking back on it, I’d probably do it again,” she admitted. “I would just do it very differently.”
Today, O’Connell is enjoying success as a model and fashion personality in the South, and she’s bringing her Southern charm (and some stylish looks) to Bravo’s hit reality series.
