Mexican singer Dulce La Cantante has tragically passed away at the age of 69 following health complications.
Her family confirmed the news on Christmas Day, with a statement posted on her official Instagram account asking for privacy during this difficult time.
Born Bertha Elisa Noeggerath Cárdenas, Dulce La Cantante was famous for hit songs such as Dejame Volver Contigo (1982) and Soy Tu Dama (1985). Her sister, Isabel Noeggerath, also shared the sad news on Facebook, writing, “Sister, you are now with our mother in heaven singing to her. I will miss you, rest in peace, I love you.”
Dulce had been battling lung issues and had been undergoing a strong medication regimen that worsened her condition, particularly due to kidney complications.
While the exact cause of her death is still being determined, she was hospitalized earlier this month, which led to the cancellation of some of her concerts.
Earlier this month, Dulce posted on Instagram, sharing that she was hospitalized and at peace, expressing her hope for a full recovery.
She had recently undergone pleuropulmonary decortication surgery, a procedure aimed at preserving lung function.
Fans, friends, and family are mourning the loss of Dulce La Cantante. Her impact on the music scene, especially in Mexico, will never be forgotten.
