Joni Lamb, the longtime president and co-founder of the Daystar Television Network, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the age of 65. The network confirmed the news in a public statement, marking the loss of a major pioneer in global Christian broadcasting.
What Happened to Joni Lamb?
Lamb passed away at her home in Bedford, Texas, following a period of rapidly declining health. According to the official statement from Daystar, she had chosen to privately face “serious health matters” before suffering a recent back injury.
The ministry explained that this injury “compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation than anyone had anticipated.” Despite medical treatment and prayers from supporters worldwide, her condition continued to worsen in her final days.
A Global Broadcasting Legacy
Lamb’s influence on television spanned nearly four decades. She and her late husband, Marcus Lamb, began their ministry by launching a television station in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1985. They eventually relocated to Texas, launching the Daystar Television Network in 1998. The network grew into one of the largest Christian broadcasters in the world, reaching viewers globally across satellite, cable, streaming, and digital platforms.
Lamb was a familiar face to millions as the host of the award-nominated daily talk show Joni Table Talk, and as co-host of the flagship program Ministry Now!. Following the death of Marcus Lamb in 2021, she stepped into an expanded leadership role to guide the network.
Before her passing, Lamb worked closely with Daystar’s Board of Directors to establish an executive leadership team to ensure the organization’s daily programming and mission would continue uninterrupted.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Doug Weiss, whom she married in 2023, as well as her three children—Jonathan, Rachel, and Rebecca—and their families. The family has requested privacy during this time, and memorial service details will be shared at a later date.
