Melissa Rivers, daughter of the late comedian Joan Rivers, had time to save a precious few items before her home was destroyed by the Los Angeles fires raging through the southern California region — including her mother’s Emmy and a hand-drawn portrait her mom drew of Melissa and her son before her death in 2014.
Melissa Rivers saved Joan Rivers’ Emmy before home burned in L.A. fires, says ‘the history of’ her family was destroyed.
Melissa said her “heart is so broken” as the Pacific Palisades was “wiped off the map” by the fires:
“That’s the end of everything that belonged to my family and the history of it.”
Melissa River is far from the only star who has spoken about the devastation they’re experiencing as they watch their homes burn. Paris Hilton posted a photo of where her Malibu home used to be on Jan. 8 as she wrote,
“Heartbroken beyond words. Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience.”
Hilton, 43, said that the home was where she and her husband Carter Reum “built so many precious memories,” including with their two children. “It’s where Phoenix took his first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London.”
Celebrity Possessions Destroyed by LA Fires
Melissa Rivers family collection was among many celebrity possessions destroyed by the fires, with other stars like Jamie Lee Curtis, Billy Crystal, Paris Hilton, James Woods, and more outlining the situation around them, ranging from personal property damage and destroyed homes to publicly calling for others to help support relief efforts and first responders.
