Stephanie Ready Criticizes Joel Embiid’s Incident with Female Referee

In a heated matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs, drama erupted in the second quarter when Sixers star Joel Embiid was ejected after a charging foul against Victor Wembanyama. The call, made by referee Jenna Schroeder, sparked an emotional outburst from Embiid, who approached Schroeder aggressively before being restrained by teammates.

Broadcaster Stephanie Ready voiced strong criticism of Embiid’s behavior, particularly in the context of Schroeder being one of the NBA’s female officials.

“He approaches and steps to her as if he wants to have a physical confrontation, which I have a problem with. I have a lot to say as a woman,” Ready stated, calling out Embiid’s actions as unacceptable regardless of the game’s intensity.

While some argue Embiid’s reaction was a result of built-up frustrations from the season, Ready’s remarks highlight the importance of professionalism and respect for referees, male or female. Schroeder’s night wasn’t without additional controversy, as she later rescinded an ejection of Andre Drummond following a questionable call.

Despite the turmoil, the 76ers pulled off a 111-106 win, led by Tyrese Maxey’s 32 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. Wembanyama, though brilliant with 26 points and eight blocks, couldn’t secure a win for the Spurs.
